IKEA Effect with Cooking

Do you want to eat healthier? Learn a new skill? Spend quality time with your loved ones? Set your cooking intention with Simmer Social and stay motivated to cook with the IKEA effect mindset.

The IKEA Effect is a cognitive bias that explains why we love something more if we helped make it. We experience a feeling of accomplishment and a heightened sense of competence. I reflect on how the IKEA effect applies to my relationship with cooking throughout the years:

Coming Soon…Simmer Social

It’s Strava for cooking and Instagram for food. We are working hard on the next version of Simmer, which will allow you to share your cooking date experiences, rate recipes, and post photos of your home cooked meals!

We’re thinking about adding features where you can cook with more than one person, in Simmer Circles. Family reunion? Dinner party with friends? Get everyone in a Simmer Circle and start swiping!

You’ll also be able to swipe solo and set goals/intentions for your cooking endeavors. For example, if you want to eat healthier or try a specific lifestyle challenge (ie. Whole 30, Blue Zone Diet), you can use Simmer to find the best recipes for you and stay accountable by sharing your journey with your friends on the social feed.

Please let me know if and which of these resonates with you the most, so we can prioritize our product roadmap. With Simmer, our mission is to help create connections and strengthen relationships through cooking.

❤️‍🔥 See you on Simmer ❤️‍🔥

The first person to send me an invite code this week and complete a cooking date-swiping session with me wins a gift card to their grocery store of choice.
